My Script.

My script is about a family who are going on holiday but get up late, 5 minutes before the taxi is due. Lucy and Daniel are 7 and 10 years old and are extremely excited about jetting off to Spain, however mum Karen and dad Steve are in a mad rush to make sure they are ready for when the taxi arrives to take them to the airport.
My original idea for a script was similar to 'Late' but instead of the family being late, Karen didn't like flying and was really scared before the taxi picked the family up, however I changed my idea slightly because this one is more exciting. It is also very realistic, the dialog I use is just how kids talk; 'you always av crumpets.' Lucy is the main character in my script and she is very excited to be going to Spain. The idea of the kids barging into their parents room screaming 'we're going on holiday' is very realistic to me as that's what I used to do when I Lucy's age and going on holiday. The script has a happy ending, as they are leaving for the airport but is also mood-uplifting throughout.
My script wasn't however chosen to create as our short film as it has no moral, would be quite difficult to produce; such as finding the cast, and would be a lot longer than five minutes. Although, it is a good little story and would be fun to make. Also the dialog is very realistic and the story itself is quiet intriguing.
I am happy with our chosen script as it is a nice, simple story which has a moral. I believe we will work very well as a team and am looking forward to producing a good production.

Reseach task
For the research task I had to provide a 500 word critical textual analysis of a chosen text, discussing the functions of mise-en-scene, mise-en-shot, editing and sound and music. From this and considering the techniques analysed in part one I had to discuss how I wanted our own film to develop under the conventions I had recognized as being typical of a short film.
From doing this task it gave me more ideas about what I wanted our film to be like and the techniques that I wanted to be included. Task number one gave me an insight into what short films are all about and from this I gained knowledge which I was able to contribute to the group about ideas for our film.
